The world’s SMART flag – Palau International Ship Registry (PISR) – has been one of the major sponsors of the TradeWinds Ship Recycling Forum that took place in Hamburg, Germany from 7-8 March 2018.
The event attracted those involved in ship, rig and offshore vessel recycling and offered insights and details of regulations, technical knowledge and reputation risk assessment for the profitable, safe and environmentally sound disposal of ships at the end of their lives. With ship recycling in the news and environmental concerns on every agenda, those attending represented cash buyers, ship recyclers, ship owners, S&P brokers, insurance underwriters, environmental pressure groups, regulators, technical consultants and class societies.
Panos Kirnidis, CEO of PISR, was delighted to have been one of the leading sponsors of the event.
“We understand the importance of protecting the environment and as we are all part of the shipping industry we have a duty to ensure the maritime sector respects and acts appropriately to the concerns and issues affecting single and final voyages. PISR can take care of the ships at the end of their life and make the processes for stakeholders profitable and efficient with the right attention to environmental and regulatory issues. By offering special fleet discounts, flat fees for single final voyages and with an experienced team of experts to handle the registration process, we can make the final voyage of any ship a less stressful one for all concerned. Being able to support the TradeWinds Ship Recycling Forum made good sense for Palau International Ship Registry and we were delighted to see so many at the event who have the same ethos.”
