Amendments to Regulation 21 of MARPOL Annex VI – amendments to EEDI Phase 3

MEPC 75 adopted changes to the time period and the reduction rates for EEDI phase 3 requirements for certain ship types. Table 1 of Regulation 21 will be amended to reflect these changes. In relation to an identified problem facing larger bulk carriers in implementing the future EEDI requirements, Table 2 of Regulation 21 is also amended for bulk carriers to show that the
parameter b is the same for ships with DWT less than, equal to or more than 279,000.
