Amendments to SOLAS II-2/20 concerning protection for spaces in which vehicles are carried

Cargo spaces on all ships used for the transport of motor vehicles (a) with fuel in their tanks for their own propoulsion, that are loaded/unloaded into cargo spaces which do not meet the requirements of SOLAS II-2/20, “Protection of vehicle, special category and ro-ro spaces”; and (b) that do not use their own propulsion within the cargo space, are not required to comply with SOLAS II-2/20 provided the vehicles are carried in compliance with the appropriate requirements of regulation 19 and the IMDG Code, as defined in SOLAS VII/1.1.
